A lifelong mission

Shop Where You Own

Luthando founded the Luthando Maduna Foundation to champion the mission of building a New City of Alexandra through the Shop Where You Own model.

He believes that when people shop where they own, the businesses serving their daily needs can become instruments for reducing inequality and poverty. Value generated by daily consumption can be directed towards replacing informal settlements and underserved areas with dignified, people-owned economic infrastructure.

This is his lifelong mission: to build practical pathways into ownership and use connected businesses to support stronger communities for generations to come.

Beyond the profession

Family, football and reflection

After years of travelling across the country while pursuing his career, Luthando values time with his family. He is a passionate Arsenal supporter and enjoys taking long walks and playing chess.
